Saigon Saigon, Glebe
One of my favourite things to do on a Friday and Saturday night is to meet a friend for dinner and a couple of drinks and catch up on all the goss and happenings. One of my favourite places to do this is in Glebe. Glebe, apart from being reasonably close by, is always buzzing and has a number of great restaurants with an array of cuisines, from Mexican to Turkish to Vietnamese. This particular night I was craving Mexican and so I suggested to my friend that we head off to Baja Cantina. Unfortunately it was a popular night and we couldn’t get in so we headed off down the road to Flying Fajita Sistas, another Mexican restaurant with gluten free options. It seemed to be the night to eat Mexican in Glebe as they told us it would be at least an hours wait. My friend and I decided that we would leave our name down however would have a look around for other places to eat.In the end we decided we were too hungry to wait for a table at Flying Fajita Sistas and after confirming that Saigon Saigon had gluten free options we decided Vietnamese it would be!We started off with the only entree I could eat, (hey I was just happy that I could eat an entree as I usually can’t at Asian restaurants) the prawn rice paper rolls. The rolls were a good size and a delicious light entree. For mains we decided to share a chilli and lemongrass chicken dish and the pan friend salmon on salad. The chilli and lemongrass chicken was very tasty, I absolutely loved the sauce which was full of flavour. There were also plenty of vegetables which was great.
Chilli lemongrass chicken Chilli lemongrass chickenI also really loved the salmon, it was cooked perfectly and had an amazing flavour. The salad was very fresh and it was great to have something a bit lighter alongside the chicken dish.
Pan friend salmon and salad Pan friend salmon and saladOverall it was a night of great food and great company and I would highly recommend Saigon Saigon. What is your favourite thing to do on a Friday/Saturday night?
