Home made gluten free pizzas
On Saturday night I really wanted home made pizzas for dinner – however after the amount of food I ate over the Easter break I decided I should probably have something healthy for dinner. It’s rather hard to make healthy gluten free pizzas due to the gluten free bases and wraps being high in carbohydrates. Though recently I noticed in one of Susie Burrell‘s weekly newsletters that Old Time Bakery Gluten Free Wraps have only 22g of carbs per serve making them one of the few carbohydrate controlled wraps that are gluten free.I checked out Old Time Bakery’s website and liked the sound of the mix of flours used in their Certified Organic gluten free wraps (soy, buckwheat and maize flours) and also the fact that the wraps don’t contain any added sugar, fat or artificial ingredients. I was very excited that I could have healthy home made pizza and therefore headed off to Woolworths to buy a pack of wraps. For my pizza toppings I decided on a thin layer of tomato paste, grilled capsicum and eggplant, fresh basil, fresh tomato, olives and a small sprinkle of mozzarella cheese. At first I thought the pizza might be a bit plain however the pizza was delicious and the wrap was also very tasty (stay tuned for my next post on using the wraps for exactly that, a wrap! – I was pleasantly suprised). What is your favourite weekend meal?
