Art Cafe, Oxford
I’m turning into my mother. I remember as kids every time we went somewhere, whether it be for a bike ride, to an amusement park and so on, she would insist we take a picnic lunch. My sister and were never happy with this as we wanted to eat out and it was great when my Dad chimed in telling my mum that we might as well just eat out. Now, as as a traveler, earning UK wages, I do everything I can to save money so I can spend it on my next trip to Europe, and this means rarely eating out. So on a recent trip to Oxford my friend and I headed to the Supermarket to purchase a picnic lunch to eat in the Park. Now I have to say on this occasion I cheated a bit as on the way to the Supermarket I discovered a Café that did Gluten free Sandwiches – something you rarely see and I therefore couldn’t turn down. Art Café in Oxford At the Art Café the Glutenous sandwiches are already made up and displayed in the window but you can choose any of the filling Combinations and they will make one up on Gluten free bread for you. The sandwich was delicious and not too expensive and went perfectly with our carrots and hummus for our Picnic in the Park (though I have to admin the sandwich did not last the walk to the park).I’m pleased to say that whilst the sandwich was a little bit of a splurge I did refrain from purchasing one of the many Gluten free sweet options, which unlike GF sandwiches, you see almost everywhere these days! (all of the cakes in the photo are Gluten free : Congo bar, milk choc brownie, lemon and Ginger polenta Shortbread, Polenta Shortbread, plain Flap jack, caramel shortbread) Gluten free cakes from Art Cafe in OxfordArt Cafe14 Bonn Square Oxford, OX1 1EUhttp://artcafeoxford.instantwebapp.co.uk
