Long Track Pantry, Jugiong
Jugiong is a cute little town just off the Hume Highway in between Gundagai and Yass. With a population of about 250 people it may not be the first place on your list to visit, however if you happen to be in the area (which we were when driving back from our weekend away near Tumbarumba) you must go and visit the Long Track Pantry for breakfast, lunch or even just to take a look around! We were told about the Long Track Café & Pantry by family friends who highly recommended a lunch visit and we were not disappointed. Unlike Sydney, we were Treated to stunning weather over the Easter long weekend and we decided to make the most of the sun by sitting outside to enjoy our lunch. Having a glance at the menu I was very excited to see that they had gluten free bread available and listed the items available to be made gluten free.
The Long Track Easter Travellers Menu The Long Track Easter Travellers MenuI, like most others in our group, decided on The Long Track Lunch Plate with smoked trout pate, marinated feta, roasted tomato, artichokes, red onion relish and toasted gluten free bread (Turkish bread if you don’t need it gluten free). While we waited for our meals to arrive we enjoyed a bottle of Two Italian Boys Pinot Grigio – which I would highly recommend – however we are still waiting for those Two Italian Boys to pick us up…Two Italian Boys pick us up tonightThe interior of The Long Track Cafe & Pantry is done beautifully and I especially like the bathrooms signage.
“Just go behind the Tree”
The tree! “Just go behind the Tree”The tree! Not too long after ordering, our food arrived. It not only looked but tasted amazing.
Long Track lunch plate with gluten free bread Long Track lunch plate with gluten free bread The gluten free bread was homemade and tasted delicious (even the non glutards who had a taste enjoyed it). I especially loved the red onion relish and was disappointed to hear that they had sold out of the jars of it. The Long Track Pantry has a number of homemade jams, relishes, dressings, chutneys & marmalades that you can purchase and take home with you (they even have a couple which you can taste). Best of all they are all gluten free. You can also purchase gluten free muesli. If you feel like something sweet after lunch they have a number of homemade cakes including gluten free options. The staff at The Long Track Café & Pantry were very helpful and friendly and the food was delicious. I will definitely be back when in the area next.
