Gluten-Free Chicken from Leon

I have posted about Leon before, about how I not only love their food but how they cater for so many dietary needs including gluten free.Last week I was lucky enough to try their new menu item, Gluten-Free Chicken along with a couple of other goodies. When trialling gluten free products I always like to get a second opinion from a non coeliac so my housemate and I ventured off to the Leon at Spitafields (where the new product is currently on trial).Gluten-Free Chicken, Slaw & Banana and Cinnamon Milk Free ShakeBoth my housemate and I loved the Gluten-Free Chicken. The coating was nice and crunchy and tasted great with the lemon. We were also lucky enough to try all four sauces between the two of us and my only comment would be that we found the olive oil mayo quite thick and overpowering and took away from the flavor of the chicken. However the chilli sauce, tarragon mayo and homemade ketchup were all delicious. The fresh slaw I had for a side was delicious, so fresh and crunchy. We also got to try and new Banana and Cinnamon Milk Free Shake (there are three flavours, the other two being Vanilla and Chocolate). We guzzled these down and couldn’t believe they were milk and sugar free (they are made with unsweetened almond milk and sweetened with dates). We kept our sweet treats to have at home later with tea, a Cranberry Bakewell and Chocolate Brownie. Both were absolutely delicious, the brownie so moist containing a hint of orange and the bakewell full of flavour. The Gluten-Free Chicken is on trial at the Spitafields Leon until October so make sure you get down there and try it. You can then provide your feedback to see whether Leon will roll it out to all their stores. If you trial it I would love to hear what you think.http://leonrestaurants.co.uk
