Cafe Bondi – gluten free friendly

My friend and I are desperately trying to use up all our vouchers from the Entertainment Book before they expire and so we flicked through to find our Thursday night dinner destination. We were both shocked to find that I still hadn’t used my Cafe Bondi voucher as this is usually the first one to go, and so our dinner destination was decided.Having a look at Cafe Bondi’s menu online I noticed that they listed their sausages as gluten free so I at least figured they would know what I was talking about when asking what was gluten free.We turned up and the initial conversation with our friendly waiter went something like this:Me: The chicken salad….
Waiter: It has chicken in it
Me: That’s good to know, though I was wondering if it can be made gluten free without the croutons?
Waiter: It can be made gluten free with gluten free bread
Me: Even better! In that case I’ll have a gluten free chicken salad
My friend: I also have a question… about the haloumi salad
Waiter: You want it without the haloumi?
Laughter
Waiter: No seriously, people come in here and order the no carbs meal with a side of fries, or the vegetarian breakfast with sausages. The friendly banter put us both in a great mood (not that we weren’t already!) and once we had made our orders we sat back and caught up on the gossip from the past couple of weeks while sipping water out of these cute glasses:

The bread tasted as good as it looked and the salad was amazing! Full of all the good stuff with the perfect amount of dressing. As usual, by the time we had finished our meals we still had lots of gossip to catch up on so we decided to have dessert. There were a few gluten free options and I chose the almond and poppyseed log (as I had one at Sydney Fine Food Company in Alexandria and loved it). I also ordered a chai latte.
